Polka Dots Galore

We just moved into our townhouse a couple months ago, but I’ve had a specific vision of how I wanted to decorate my girls’ room for a while now.  I’m not close to being done, but I wanted to share this first part of the project before it was too late.

Polka dots. I don’t particularly love them on anything else, but I knew I wanted them on a wall. They are pretty fun and perfect for my little girls. Lately I’ve been really into gold, especially paired with white and cream. I found a pack of 200 2” gold circle decals on Amazon for $9.95. I thought that would be way too many, but for the spacing I chose, I ended up with only 7 left. I was hoping to find a bigger size circles but I love how these turned out.

I started out finding the mid-point on the wall height-wise. I started on one end and worked my way to the other.

I then worked on the middle of the wall and marked my spacing from the middle up and the middle down. I wanted to make sure I had my rows in the right places.

From there I just worked side to side lining everything up. Because I can never get anything straight, I used a ruler and a level to measure 12 inches between the middle point of the circle. I made a small dot with a pencil and used that as a guide for each decal.

For the polka dot effect, I tried to eyeball where the circle decal needed to be between my two guide rows. But again, Since I can’t make straight lines, I had to measure like I did with my original rows.

I love how it turned out!! It makes me smile every time I walk into the girls’ room. I have more plans for the room and hope to share them when I put them together.
