Spring has sprung!!

Spring is here, kind of, so I’m getting my decorations together. Sometimes I like to repurpose and reuse décor, so some of my decorations have been seen in previous posts, but I did DIY a few pieces too add a freshness to the older items. I put together a pretty flower arrangement, designed a decorative plate, and also made a beautiful wreath for my front door.

I worked on the wreath first because I hate a naked front door. I wanted something bright and cheery since it was about 10 degrees where I live while I was putting the wreath together. I used a wreath form, faux flowers, and burlap ribbon, all from Dollar Tree.

I started by cutting the stems of the flowers with a wire cutter. I cut them pretty low so the stem would be easy to wrap around the wire of the wreath form.

I Started by wrapping the stems around the frame and hot gluing them on the back to keep them in place. Not really in any particular order. I just put the flowers in color groupings that I liked. Wrapping the stems around the wire frame is usually how I make my wreaths. This time I wanted to try something different that would be less time consuming. I decided to use the chevron-striped burlap ribbon that I knew I wanted to compliment my wreath. I wanted to wrap it all the way around, but I ran out. I used some plain burlap ribbon and ribbon with red polka dots to completely cover the frame.

After the wreath frame was completely covered I started hot gluing flowers to the burlap ribbon. I started on the side that had the polka dot ribbon and finished on the opposite side where the chevron-striped ribbon was. Again, I didn’t use the flowers in any particular order. Once I had the flowers in place, I filled in some areas with leaves that I had previously removed from the faux flower stems. Below is the final look.

Next I started on a flower arraingment to use inside for decoration. I used flowers, styrofoam blocks, and this cute bucket, all from Dollar Tree.

This DIY was super easy. I just put the Styrofoam blocks in the bucket, a couple needed to be cut to fill the inside. I then cut the stems of the flowers and arranged them until I was happy with the look.

My last DIY is a decorative plate. I found a plain glass plate at Dollar Tree and used a teal acrylic paint from Wal-Mart.

I used a foam brush to put on the paint. I’m pretty sure it was the brush I used, but I had to put on about 5 coats of paint to get a full coverage.

Once I got the coverage I wanted, I used an oil-based, Sharpie paint pen to write “Hello Spring”. At $2 (plate and paint) this was my least expensive DIY this time around, and I think my favorite.

Here is the final look with my DIYs all put together.
