Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy V-Day, everyone! I just wanted to share my holiday decorations with you. I did two different styles. One is a little over the top, classic Valentine colors of red and pink. Very festive. The second is more understated. Very cute and calm, for those that don’t want to be hit in the face with the with the holiday. A lot of the décor is store bought, but I did make 3 of the elements used, which I will show and explain down below.

I knew I wanted to make a wreath for my V-Day décor, and as I got started I realized that what I had in mind wasn’t working, but I liked it anyway. That is my felt heart wreath.

The felt hearts and the ribbon were both found at Dollar Tree. I also used some silver gems that I already had at home.

First, I placed the hearts in a circle and super glued them together then I placed a white heart in the center

At this point I decided that this felt heart wreath would not serve well as a base for the paper wreath (details below) that I had in mind. But, I liked how this one was coming together. I added another layer of red and pink felt hearts to the outer part of the circle. Then I made a bow out of the ribbon and added some gems to the center for a little more pizazz. Here is the final product.

I still really wanted to make the paper wreath that I had been imagining so I got a little more creative. I purchased a foam board from Dollar Tree to use as my base. I traced and cut out a small circle to glue my paper to.

I used my Cricut Explore Air 2(that my wonderful husband got for me, shout out to DeLorean) to cut out some rectangles and varying sizes of hearts from scrapbook paper that I bought at Hobby Lobby. I used a basic permanent marker to decorate the rectangles to look like envelopes and love notes.

I placed them on the foam board cut out and started to glue them down using Mod Podge.

I layered the envelopes and different size hearts, added a string, and this is the final look.

For my last craft, I used a picture frame from Dollar Tree, wooden stickers from Target, scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby, a ruler, and a permanent marker. This one was the easiest out of all three projects, and I think my favorite of the three.

For this project I only have before and after pictures, not the whole process. I do have a video of the process though. You can that watch here.

To start, I used the glass in the picture frame as a template to trace and cut out the correct size piece of scrapbook paper to fit into the frame. I then used my ruler and permanent marker to make ‘tic-tac-toe’ style lines on the front of the paper. I put the frame back together then used Mod Podge to glue down the red and white heart shape stickers to my paper. See, I told you it was easy.

Next, it was time for me to put all of my decorating elements together. First I’ll show you the fancy, over the top decorations.
